Edwin Landeo, challenged me: \u201cWith that nose, I demand double. Recognize them at first sight!\u201d I passed, but I\u2019m still learning from him.<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-23f6399a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"23f6399a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Does the \u201ctechnical tasting\u201d really exist?<\/p><p>When talking about tasting, the first thing that comes to mind is the sensory experience tied to pleasure: discovering aromas, identifying flavors and textures, and allowing a spirit like pisco to transport us to memories and emotions. Therefore, it is said that tasting is, in essence, hedonistic, as it is based on personal enjoyment of the senses.<br \/>However, in the professional realm, the need arises to organize, record, and evaluate those perceptions systematically. This is where what many call \u201ctechnical tasting\u201d comes into play, but which, more properly, we could refer to as analytical tasting or professional tasting.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-33 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-39b6cf20 minh-450\" data-id=\"39b6cf20\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3325ca7c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3325ca7c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>What differentiates analytical tasting from hedonistic tasting?<br \/>The difference lies in the purpose.<br \/>In hedonistic tasting, the objective is pleasure and subjective appreciation. Each taster is guided by their sensitivity, olfactory memory, and personal taste.<br \/>On the other hand, in analytical tasting, the purpose is to describe, evaluate, and communicate the characteristics of a beverage under common and reproducible criteria. For this, standardized sheets (ISO, OIV, CRDO-Pisco), scoring scales, and a agreed-upon vocabulary are used to reduce subjectivity.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-75cfed70 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"75cfed70\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The value of analytical tasting<br \/>Analytical tasting allows: <br \/>-To generate comparable and verifiable judgments in competitions and evaluations. <br \/>-To establish quality parameters. <br \/>-To train and educate tasters with a common language. <br \/>-To provide useful information to the producer and confidence to the consumer.<br \/>Thus, analytical tasting does not eliminate the hedonistic component; rather, it organizes it and provides a framework of objectivity. The taster continues to enjoy pisco but now with a method that enables them to convey that enjoyment with precision.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-62a793a5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"62a793a5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Final Reflection<br \/>We can conclude, then, that it is more appropriate to talk about analytical tasting or professional tasting instead of \u201ctechnical tasting.\u201d The former highlights the method; the latter, the context in which it is applied.
